Avventurina - How It’s Made
The Magic: As the molten glass cools, tiny metallic crystals form within the glass and catch the light, creating its signature sparkling, star-like glow.
The Challenge: Crafting with avventurina demands exceptional skill. If the glass is overheated, the metallic particles can dissolve or oxidize, causing the beautiful shimmer to disappear.
Surprisingly, in the 1700s, an extraordinary type of quartz was found, giving off a glimmer thanks to the addition of minerals like chrome and hematite. This mesmerizing quartz was called Aventurine, inspired by the Aventurine Glass crafted by Murano's finest artists. While many may assume the glass was named after the stone, it's interesting to know that Murano's glassmakers actually created Avventurina before it was even found in nature.
