Caring for Italian ceramics doesn’t require too much effort, but there are a few tips that will help preserve your beautiful keepsakes for years to come.
Avoid sudden temperature changes.
Because of the porous nature of earthenware, ceramics can easily be damaged if they are exposed to quick fluctuations in temperature. An example of this would be putting a very warm serving tray in to cold water, or filling a room temperature piece with boiling liquid.A tip for tea and coffee is to place a metal spoon in your cup before filling with hot liquid. The metal of the spoon absorbs just enough of the heat to reduce the thermal shock on the pottery itself.
Some of our ceramics are microwave safe, but we recommend avoiding using the microwave for more than 30 seconds at a time.
No harsh chemicals
Don’t use scouring powders or other harsh remedies to remove stains and dry food from your Italian ceramic plates or serving accessories.
Use Dishwasher with caution
Most of our ceramics are marked as "Dishwasher Safe", we suggest not using sanitize mode, or cycles with extremely hot water setting.Use care when loading them in a dishwasher, and be sure the products do not touch each other.
Handmade is perfectly not perfect!
Remember that small imperfections in the ceramics are proof that they are entirely made by hand and considered a part of the unique quality of the products.
