Murano Glass Large Art Vase, Vessel, Reticello, Made in Italy
Handblown by a Master Glass Artisan on the island of Murano, Italy. This one-of-a-kind vase is created using an age-old technique called "reticello".
Reticello is a filigrana-style glassmaking technique with a long history on the island of Murano. In Italian, reticello translates to “a small net”, and this is what you will see when viewing this piece. Two glass cores are wrapped inside the glass canes, then one rod is turned clockwise and the other counterclockwise. These movements cause little air bubbles to get trapped inside the crisscross pattern, giving it a mesmerizing appearance.
In this particular piece, you can see the tiny air bubbles trapped exactly in the center of each criss-cross design in the pink/lilac section.
